ESPN claim Antonio Conte has told Tottenham striker Harry Kane that he can improve him in a similar way he did with Romelu Lukaku, while at Inter Milan. Lukaku sparkled, when Conte took him to Inter in 2019.

Kane, 29, has scored 117 goals in the Premier League in the last five seasons. But this time around, he only has five league goals in 21 appearances. His form is improving, but far off his previous stats.

Lukaku joined Inter for around £74million from Manchester United in the summer of 2019. Conte immediately improved Lukaku, who now earns a whopping £325,000 a week (Spotrac) at Tottenham’s rivals Chelsea.

The Belgian scored a huge 64 goals in 95 games at Inter Milan – laying on 16 assists in a dangerous front two with Lautaro Martinez. Kane has been used in a front two with Son Heung-min at times and Conte has similar ideas.

ESPN now report that Conte has told Kane that he can improve him like he did with Lukaku at Inter Milan. Whether Kane remains at Tottenham for as long as it takes to get to that level, remains to be seen.

Can Kane reignite form under Conte at Tottenham, like Lukaku?

Kane certainly has the ability to do so. He can be as effective as Lukaku at Tottenham, but the difference is, that Kane might end up leaving Spurs at the end of the season – and that Spurs are some way off Inter.

When Conte was at Inter, they were title winners come the end of 2020-21. At Spurs, they are currently sitting miles behind the top four. Kane can get there, but the players around him need to improve – and he needs to stay.
