Antonio Conte has made a decision about Bryan Gil at Tottenham Hotspur.
The Spanish winger joined Spurs under Nuno Espirito Santo last summer, some months before Conte arrived in North London.
Having struggled during the first half of last season, Gil was loaned to Valencia in January and enjoyed a very decent spell back in La Liga.
However, the Tottenham boss has decided to give the 21-year-old a chance to impress him and his coaches during the club’s pre-season visit to South Korea, according to The Evening Standard.
That report also claims that Conte has reservations about how suited Gil is to English football, however.
Gil would’ve been signed by Fabio Paratici and given the Italian’s judgement on players so far this summer, the young winger should certainly be given an opportunity to impress Conte.
Yes, Gil is a tad lightweight, but that’s what gyms are for.
In terms of speed, agility and skill, this is a player who could potentially cause problems for many-a-defender but whether he can satisfy Conte with the sort off-the-ball work that the no-nonense manager demands remains to be seen.
At Tottenham, every outfield player will be tasked with putting in the hard yards and busting a gut out of possession.
In possession, Gil has a lot of admirable qualities and it’ll be fascinating to see whether he can take this reported chance with both hands and please Conte.
