Bryan Gil‘s Tottenham Hotspur career was given a second wind earlier in July.
At the beginning of the month, it was reported that Antonio Conte was prepared to give the 21-year-old Spaniard a chance to impress him during the club’s pre-season tour of South Korea.
Gil spent the second half of last season on loan at Valencia, having struggled for regular football during the first half of the campaign.
And Conte’s perceived willingness to assess the young winger in pre-season was an indication that the former Sevilla attacker could’ve perhaps stayed at Tottenham for the 2022-23 campaign.
However, it looks like the Italian manager has made a decision.
According to The Athletic, Gil has been made available to leave on loan.
Valencia are interested in bringing him back to Los Che but a deal would be dependent on what happens with Goncalo Cuedes, the report has added.
Smart decision
This is more than likely the right decision by Conte.
Talented as Gil might be, he is too inexperienced and lightweight to be a threat to Premier League defences next season.
There’s undeniably a player in there, hence why Fabio Paratici signed him 12 months ago, but he’s nowhere near ready and another spell out on loan might better prepare him for English football by giving him a year to beef up, even if it’s in another country.
