Italian outlet CMW claim Tottenham have rejected the chance to sign Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie in a straight-swap deal for Sergio Reguilon – with both players unwanted, as Juventus close in on Leandro Paredes.
Paredes, 28, is expected to join Juventus from PSG – despite interest from Liverpool. The Reds have even tried to tempt PSG with a straight-swap offer including Roberto Firmino. But Liverpool’s interest has quickened Juventus into a deal.
So, with Paredes coming in at Juventus, they are well-stocked in midfield. Manuel Locatelli, Nicolo Rovella, Adrien Rabiot, Arthur and Denis Zakaria as options. Paul Pogba has returned to the club, but has a long-term knee injury.
McKennie is certainly on the fringes despite clocking up 77 appearances since moving to Juventus in 2020. Reguilon, meanwhile, has been forced to train by himself at Spurs – along with Harry Winks, Gio Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele.

A deal was put to Tottenham, Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte. The duo’s old club Juventus want to sign Reguilon, and offered McKennie in a straight-swap deal. But Spurs have said no. Reports say Fulham are leading the way for Reguilon.
Tottenham have rejected McKennie in straight-swap deal for Reguilon
Paratici described McKennie as a “very intelligent boy” following his arrival. Spurs could do with another body in midfield and certainly do not need Reguilon. That is, given their options on the left in Ryan Sessegnon and Ivan Perisic.
So, why have Tottenham turned him down? Perhaps, they do not think McKennie suits Conte’s system. Perhaps it is a case of needing a homegrown player, or the fact they have Oliver Skipp returning and Yves Bissouma just signed.
But it seems like a good signing for Tottenham, especially if it means they are offloading a player they do not need to get him. For whatever reason, Tottenham have rejected the move, but perhaps it is one they needed.
