Conor Hazard signs four year deal with Celtic

Young goalkeeper Conor Hazard has signed a new four contract with Celtic.

Promising young goalkeeper and rising star, Conor Hazard, has signed a new four year contract with Celtic, the Glasgow club have confirmed on Friday.

The 19-year-old goalkeeper joined the Bhoys academy in 2014, and has quickly progressed as the club’s third choice stopper behind Craig Gordon and Dorus de Vries.

He joined Rodgers’ squad for the pre-season tour of Austria and the Czech Republic, and his latest new deal is a testament to his excellent progress.

Hazard has consistently impressed for the Celtic Development Squad. He made his senior team appearance earlier this summer in the pre-season friendly win over Linz.

The youngster said that it was an “unreal” feeling to sign the new contract. He has thanked all his coaches for their effort in his development, and believes there’s plenty more to come from him.

The young goalkeeper is focused on working hard, and his long-term ambition is to become Celtic’s first choice goalkeeper.

He also thanked Rodgers for the faith the Celtic boss has shown on young players.

“It feels unreal and it’s special to have my family over to see me signing,” said Hazard to Celtic TV.

“I wouldn’t have been able to do without all the coaches I have worked with. I have had great help from Colin Meldrum and Stevie Woods who have really developed me over the past three years and hopefully there is more to come.

“Craig (Gordon) and Dorus (de Vries) have helped me a lot along the way and I’m learning from them every day, along with Stevie Woods. It’s a great achievement but now I need to try and push on and do it.”
