Sunderland are reportedly keen on Barnsley’s Tom Bradshaw.
According to The Mirror, Sunderland are plotting a move to sign Barnsley striker Tom Bradshaw as Chris Coleman seeks additional firepower for the second half of the season.
The Black Cats lost 4-0 to Cardiff City over the weekend, and sit bottom of the Championship table as the prospect of successive relegations looms large at the Stadium of Light.
Manager Coleman is in desperate need of reinforcements this month, and with a tight budget to work with, he may be limited in terms of what he can bring to Wearside.
Having sold James Vaughan to Wigan Athletic and lost Lewis Grabban back to parent club Bournemouth, Sunderland are left without a recognised senior centre forward, and The Mirror report that Coleman now wants to sign Barnsley’s Tom Bradshaw.
Bradshaw, 25, made his name with Walsall, hitting 40 goals in 86 games for the Saddlers before landing a 2016 move to Barnsley, where he has scored 19 goals in 76 games.
A classic poacher, Bradshaw has great movement and finishing ability, but he can also play up front on his own and hold the ball up, and that should be appealing to Sunderland boss Coleman.
Coleman certainly knows all about Bradshaw having given him his first Wales cap in 2016, giving him his international bow against Ukraine before injury caused him to withdraw from the provisional squad for the 2016 European Championships.
Now, it seems that Coleman wants to reunite with Bradshaw at Sunderland, but with Ipswich, QPR and Reading also in the race for his signature, the Black Cats may struggle to compete.
