Will Derby County really raid Championship rivals Swansea City for Ghana star Ayew?

Phillip Cocu is interested in signing Andre Ayew for Derby County after working with the Swansea City outcast during his spell at Fenerbahce last season, as reported by Football Ghana.
On paper, Ayew is one of the most talented players in the Championship. A Ghana international who has played at World Cups and shone at Marseille, Swansea even paid a club record £18 million to bring the skilful forward back for a second spell at the Liberty Stadium from West Ham in January 2018 (BBC).
But if Ayew impressed in South Wales the first time around, the same cannot be said of the last 18 months.
He hasn’t scored since returning to South Wales and, with his wages far too high for a club in the second tier, the 29-year-old was farmed out on loan to Turkish giants Fenerbahce for the 2018/19 season.
It is there he worked alongside Dutch coach Cocu and, while neither set the world alight in Istanbul, it seems there is a mutual respect between player and manager.

And Football Ghana reports that Cocu would love to reunite with Ayew at Derby with Swansea desperate to sell before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
With Wayne Rooney on his way to Pride Park to take up a player-coach role, it looks set to be an exciting few days for last season’s beaten play-off finalists.
