According to Leeds Live, Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Sam Greenwood on loan, with the January transfer window now open.

What’s the story?

Well, this could be a great move for the £1.5m Leeds wonderkid.

Leeds Live believe Steve Cooper is keen to bring Greenwood to the City Ground, as he aims to maintain Nottingham Forest’s good form.

Under the 42-year-old, the Championship outfit have lost just three of their last 18 games in all competitions.

Leeds Live state that a scout from Nottingham Forest came to watch Leeds take on Leicester at Under-23 level in December, where Greenwood provided an assist for Joe Gelhardt.

So far this season, the 19-year-old has scored eight goals while also registering four assists in 17 appearances.

It comes after the teenager netted 12 goals in 18 Premier League 2 games last term.

Greenwood has also captained Mark Jackson’s side occasionally.

Loan move would be great for Sam Greenwood and Leeds

If Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta can arrange for Greenwood to join Nottingham Forest on loan, it would be a shrewd move.

Cooper has an excellent track record with young prospects, working alongside Conor Gallagher and Marc Guéhi at Swansea last season.

The pair are now thriving in the Premier League at Crystal Palace.

Cooper also guided the England Under-17 side to Under-17 World Cup success in 2017, where he had the likes of Phil Foden in his squad.

Clearly, he knows what he’s doing when it comes to young talent, which bodes well for Greenwood if this move materialises.
