Chelsea will allow Antonio Rudiger to join Tottenham Hotspur, the London Evening Standard say.

Tottenham have an interest in signing Rudiger, although it was expected that any deal would be practically impossible to complete, due to Chelsea’s reluctance to do business with them.

The Daily Mirror have reported how Roman Abramovich has said that Chelsea simply won’t do business with Tottenham.

However, it seems that Chelsea’s stance has relented and they are willing to let Rudiger leave to join Spurs, in news that should delight Mourinho.

Rudiger will be required to sign a contract extension, to ensure that he doesn’t leave on a free, but if he does – then the Blues are happy to let Jose Mourinho’s side take him for a season.

Rudiger seems to have fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, but he has proven his quality at Chelsea over a number of years.

His arrival at Tottenham would bolster Mourinho’s defensive options, and on a loan deal, he could be a solid short-term solution for Spurs.

Tottenham already have Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez, Japhet Tanganga and Toby Alderweireld at the club, but the Standard say that Mourinho is ‘desperate’ to add another central defensive addition to really tighten up his side’s backline.
