AC Milan are not giving up on signing Kristoffer Ajer from Celtic in the summer transfer window, according to The Sunday Post.

It has been reported that Milan’s initial offer of £13.5 million has been turned down by Celtic, but the Rossoneri are prepared to increase their bid to €25 million (£22.39 million) to secure the services of the Norway international central defender.

The report has added that the Italian giants are also ready to offer the Bhoys ‘a variety of central defensive options to help sweeten the deal and help the Hoops cope with the loss of Ajer’, with Matteo Gabbia and Mateo Musacchio named in the report.

Calciomercato reported last week that Ajer likes Milan and is open to a move to the Italian giants, although The Scottish Sun has claimed that the Serie A outfit have not yet made a bid.

Celtic stay

With Celtic aiming to make it 10 Scottish Premiership titles in a row next season, the Glasgow giants need to keep their best players, and that includes Ajer.

The 22-year-old, who can also operate as a defensive midfielder, played 28 times in the Scottish Premiership and eight times in the Europa League for the Hoops this past season, according to WhoScored.
