Lisandro Martinez signing for Arsenal is reportedly on the cards, despite apparent opposition from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.
According to 90 Min, Tottenham are keen on signing the Ajax defender but their North London rivals are making all the running.
On Saturday, it was reported [The Daily Mail] that Arsenal had tabled a second offer – this time for £30 million – to sign the 24-year-old.
It remains to be seen if that offer for Martinez – valued at £35 million – suceeds but Sky Sports have now reported that the Eredivisie outfit are willing to sell to the Gunners.
The report adds that Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, who joined the Red Devils from Ajax in May, has been asked to be informed about developments regarding his former player.
According to Sky, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is also a big fan of the player and, as things stand, you’d fancy the Emirates Stadium outfit to sign the reported Spurs and Manchester United target.
Lisandro Martinez signing for Arsenal?
Tottenham have enjoyed an excellent transfer window, signing three players so far – Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and Yves Bissouma.
But it does look like Arsenal have the beating of their local neighbours when it comes to Martinez.
With two offers and contact for the player, Arteta and Edu will certainly be hoping that a little more activity can see him come to the red half of North London.
But remember, this is the transfer window and things are always capable of changing in an instant.
All it would take is a major offer from Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici to alter the complexion of this one and, with the Lilywhites boasting Champions League football, well Arsenal will want to get this one wrapped up as soon as possible to stave off the potential for a hijacking.
