Valencia will reportedly only sign Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira this summer if the La Liga side can waive a transfer fee, a demand the Gunners and Edu Gaspar are not willing to meet.
According to AS, the Spanish giants have agreed to personal terms to sign the Uruguay international, however, due to financial issues, Valencia are unable to pay a transfer fee to Arsenal for Torreira, with Los Che now hopeful that the north London side will allow the 26-year-old to leave the Premier League for free.
Whilst Arsenal have done this in recent windows for the likes of Mesut Ozil, Sokratis and most recently Sead Kolasinac, Mikel Arteta is unwilling to meet such a demand for Torreira, who has just one year left on his contract and has returned to England on the back of a fantastic season with ACF Fiorentina.
With the Gunners eager to earn some sort of revenue from the transfer market this summer, it appears that Valencia’s incredible demands to sign Torreira won’t be met anytime soon, meaning that the former Sampdoria midfielder could struggle to leave north London.
Torreira has made his intentions to leave Arsenal very clear for the past two years, with the South American being sent out on loan twice to two different sides in Atletico Madrid and Fiorentina, with his spell in Tuscany arguably the midfielder’s best year ever since his debut season in the Premier League.
Indeed, Valencia would be an ideal destination for Torreira, however, with the Mestalla side making such an audacious demand to sign the Arsenal outcast, who Unai Emery originally signed in 2018 for a reported £26m, the Gunners will have potentially have to look for another buyer.

Arsenal’s transfer dealings for the longest time when it comes to outgoings has often been tragic, with the Gunners only managing to sell two senior players in the last two summer transfer windows for actual money in Joe Willock and Emi Martinez, and the north London side could make Torreira that player this year.
Whilst Valencia’s logic for wanting a free transfer for Torreira makes sense, Arsenal know they’re in a position where they can demand something for the midfielder, something the La Liga side are not seemingly willing to make despite personal terms already being accepted.
