Celta Vigo will attempt to re-sign the Leeds United-linked midfielder Rafinha Alcantara if the possibility remains in the final days of the summer transfer window, according to Marca.
Rafinha, for whom Sport claimed earlier this month that Leeds were ‘knocking on the door’, spent last season on loan to the Galician club.
But his return, it is said, ‘has not been seriously negotiated for a long time’, as Celta prioritise the signing of a new centre forward.
That could change though, if Barca fail to find a buyer soon for the Brazilian international, according to Marca.
But it is claimed that any Celta bid will hinge on the Catalan club lowering their €15 million (around £13.7m) demands, and whether they can fit Rafinha into their ‘tight’ wage structure.
Leeds’ newly-gifted Premier League riches should ensure that the Whites have fewer concerns if they pursue a deal of their own for Rafinha.
But a move for the Udinese midfielder Rodrigo de Paul appears to be Leeds’ priority at this moment in time.
Rafinha is understood to be a close family friend of the new Whites recruit, Rodrigo, and should see his older brother, Thiago, head to England with Liverpool in the coming few days.
