Liverpool are one of three Premier League clubs evaluating the possibility of signing the Sevilla centre-back, Diego Carlos, according to Marca.
Diego Carlos atoned for a hat-trick of penalty concessions in the Europa League’s knockout stages, to score the winning goal for Sevilla in last month’s final.
But it is claimed that, despite that, preparations are still being made for his transfer.
Sevilla intermediaries are said to be touting Diego Carlos in the English market, hoping that Liverpool, Manchester City or Manchester United will back up their interest with a bid.
The 27-year-old Brazilian only moved to Sevilla from Nantes last summer, costing a reported fee of £13.5 million.
But, with his release clause set at €75m (around £66.7m), Sevilla know that Diego Carlos could be the one ‘great sale’ which allows them to continue strengthening their squad, according to Marca.

Liverpool sold Dejan Lovren to Zenit Saint Petersburg at the start of the summer transfer window and have yet to replace the Croatian centre-back.
And Diego Carlos – whom it is claimed Sevilla see as the most expendable of their three main assets, ahead of Lucas Ocampos and Jules Kounde, due to his age and position – could prove a useful replacement.
