Arsenal want to offload a number of players this summer to raise funds. The impact of the global pandemic has put a number of clubs in a difficult financial position and the Gunners are no different.
Mikel Arteta’s men had a fine end to last season as they picked up the FA Cup at Wembley. The Community Shield win against Liverpool on Saturday will give them a ton of confidence too going into the new season but they still need help from the transfer market.
The arrival of Willian and Gabriel Magalhaes has strengthened Arsenal but midfield remains a concern. Dani Ceballos is expected to return for another season on loan, which is a big boost but still not enough.
The Gunners need a real engine in the centre of the park and Thomas Partey has been identified as their number-one target in this transfer window.
Goal claimed earlier this week the Ghanaian wants to be a part of Arteta’s revolution at Arsenal but his transfer fee is the biggest stumbling block. Atletico Madrid have made it clear they won’t let him leave for anything less than his £44.5 million release clause, which is bad news for the north Londoners.
Arsenal are still interested but raising funds through player sales is the only way they can meet Atleti’s demands. Arsenal are open to selling a number of players in this window, none more than Matteo Guendouzi.
The Frenchman has fallen out of favour under Arteta and hasn’t played a single minute since his altercation with Neal Maupay at the end of Arsenal’s Premier League defeat to Brighton in June.

It has been clear for a while that Arsenal and Arteta are looking to get rid of Guendouzi this summer. A number of clubs have reportedly been interested in the French midfielder, including his former club Paris Saint-Germain.
Guendouzi was a part of PSG’s youth set up before leaving them to join Lorient in 2014. The 21-year-old has shown he has incredible potential and, under the right manager, could reach the top.
However, the Telegraph has reported PSG turned down the opportunity to sign Guendouzi this summer. Thomas Tuchel’s side are only interested in Hector Bellerin, which means Arsenal will have to find another way to offload the former Lorient man before the end of the transfer window.
