According to AS, Barcelona have earmarked Mohamed Salah as a potential target if they fail to land Erling Haaland this summer.

Haaland is Europe’s hottest property this summer as his transfer release clause comes into effect, and as you can imagine, Barcelona are keen to sign him.

Unfortunately for La Blaugrana, they’re not the only team to have had this idea with the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid also keen to bring Haaland in.

Fortunately though, Barca have a backup plan and that involves signing Mohamed Salah from Liverpool.

Indeed, with Salah entering the final year of his contract this summer, the Spanish outfit believe they can land the winger for a cut-price fee between €60m and €70m (£51m-£59m).

This may be nothing more than wishful thinking from Barca. After all, Salah is arguably the best player in the world right now, so he’s worth way more than £59m, and the ‘fantastic’ attacker has previously said that he wants to stay at Liverpool for the remainder of his career.

On the flip side though, Salah has never made it a secret that La Liga entices him, and with Barca desperate for a new superstar to rebuild around, Salah may be tempted by the idea of becoming the new poster boy at Camp Nou.

This certainly seems to be a situation worth keeping an eye on.
