Newcastle United are reportedly very keen on signing Youssef En-Nesyri in the summer transfer window.

According to Marca, UEFA Europa League winners Sevilla are expecting an offer of £30 million for the 26-year-old forward from Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United.

It is also claimed that Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma, who were defeated by Sevilla in the Europa League final, could be interested in Youssef En-Nesyri, too

The report claims that Newcastle and Roma have En-Nesyri on their radar this summer, although it is unclear how much money the Magpies have to spend as they contest with Financial Fair Play, and have just splashed £70 million, a record fee for Newcastle, on AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali.

En-Nesyri could be an interesting option for Newcastle

With Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak, Newcastle have two fantastic forwards.

Wilson has lots of Premier League experience and has always been reliable for Howe, while Isak is finally beginning to flourish in the Premier League after a difficult start.

En-Nesyri, however, represents an interesting forward option for the Toon. With Isak capable of playing on the right-hand-side, the Morrocan forward could come in and provide competition to the former Bournemouth man, Wilson.

For a reasonable fee, it could represent a snip for Howe, as En-Nesyri has 18 goals in all competitions and could add something unique to the forward line.

Whether he would want to leave Seville remains the question. That same report from Marca states the forward would be happy to stay in Spain unless a club with ‘higher ambitions’ come knocking for the 26-year-old.

Manchester United did have an interest in the Morrocan forward back in 2021, according to Spanish outlet Super Deporte, but nothing came of their interest.

And ie rated very highly indeed, having been tipped to move to Liverpool in the past.

Former Liverpool and Morocco international winger Nabil El Zhar is a big fan of En-Nesyri, and his previous comments on the striker show the kind of forward Newcastle would get if they signed him this summer.

El Zhar told Liverpool.com about En-Nesyri in March 2022: “You also have Youssef En-Nesyri. He is a very good player. He caught Covid just before the African Cup of Nations and he struggled with injuries, but he is a very, very good player.

“He is a player who could do very well at Liverpool. He is quick, he runs a lot, he has a high speed intensity, pressing the ball and is always in movements on the pitch. He is a very interesting player.

“He is a very good guy, too. When he came to Leganes, he was like a kid, and he was always listening to advice. He is a quiet guy who respects everyone and who is a great professional.”
