Corriere del Mezzogiorno claim – as per GIFN – that Napoli have tabled an offer worth £75,000 a week to Tottenham, Newcastle and Aston Villa target Kalidou Koulibaly. Villa are said to have had a bid rejected.

Koulibaly, 30, is a colossus. On his day, one of Europe’s best central defenders. He has been a loyal servant to Napoli, joining the club in 2014 and remaining with the Serie A side for eight years – playing 317 times.

Now, the Senegal international’s future is in doubt. He has a contract at Napoli until 2023, meaning the club need to act this summer. That is, whether it is a new deal, or sell him in order to bring in some cash.

Reports claims Aston Villa have had a bid rejected for the £30million-rated defender, while Newcastle are also keen. Spanish outlet SPORT say Tottenham are also looking at Koulibaly this summer.

But the latest report from emerging from Italy is that Napoli have tabled an offer to extend Koulibaly’s contract. They are willing to pay £75,000 a week, and Koulibaly has instructed the club to talk to his agents.

A move to the Premier League would surely see the experienced centre-back earn a whole lot more than what Napoli are offering. But he clearly has an emotional attachment to the Serie A club.

Eight years with Napoli surely puts them in pole position as to where Koulibaly is playing next season. Villa have since signed Diego Carlos. Spurs are in the Champions League and Newcastle have the cash.

But if Koulibaly is happy with £75,000 a week – which seems to be the case given he has told his agents to talk to the club – then it looks as if he will remain in Serie A. It might not be the end of Koulibaly’s Napoli spell.
