Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Tottenham are set to receive a £1.7million loan offer from Fiorentina for Giovani Lo Celso – with the option to make the loan deal permanent for a further £16.9million.
Lo Celso, 26, spent the second half of last season on loan at Villarreal. The Argentina international and Copa America winner starred for Unai Emery’s Yellow Submarine, clocking up 21 appearances in all competitions.
If Fiorentina’s offer is accepted, it will end a disappointing three-year spell on the books at Tottenham. Initially on loan before signing permanently in 2020, Lo Celso managed just 84 appearances in all competitions – scoring eight times.

He failed to replicate the form he had previously shown in La Liga with Real Betis. Now, La Viola president Rocco Commisso is to arrive in Italy this week to table the offer. Lo Celso’s stance is that he is keen on a move to Fiorentina.
However, Lo Celso’s priority is a return to Villarreal. An offer has been made by the Spanish club, to which there has been no response. There is also interest from Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio and another Serie A club in Napoli.
Di Marzio: Tottenham set to receive Fiorentina offer for Lo Celso
Finally, some movement regarding Lo Celso. Ultimately, he needs to go and a move to Fiorentina clearly appeals to him – even if he would rather be heading back to Villarreal. The offer is a decent one, but Spurs may want more.
They spent £27million to bring him to London in the first place and Fiorentina’s offer only reaches a total of £18.6million. Spurs will be waving goodbye to a third of the chunk they spent on the versatile midfielder.
It remains to be seen if Fiorentina’s offer will tempt Villarreal to up their offer, or other clubs to come to the negotiating table. But one thing is for sure, “fantastic” Lo Celso needs to leave Spurs.
