According to the Mirror, Brentford plan to offer Ivan Toney a new contract in an attempt to fend off interest from West Ham, Newcastle and Leeds.

West Ham, Newcastle & Leeds want Ivan Toney

Well, the Mirror believe the 26-year-old has attracted interest from the Premier League trio, as well as Manchester United.

Toney has been in superb form so far this season after scoring 12 goals in 33 Premier League games last term, netting six in nine league outings – including a hattrick in the 5-2 win over Leeds.

It’s no surprise Jesse Marsch wants to sign him.

The Mirror state that Brentford are planning to offer their No.17 fresh terms in a bid to keep him in west London, with a deal worth just over six figures a week in the pipeline.

Toney’s stock has grown massively since his £5m move from Peterborough in 2020, earning his first ever England call-up last month.

Brentford are also hoping to include a release clause in his new contract, which is set to be a hefty sum, albeit one which will not prohibit the Northampton-born striker from making a big move.

As things stand, Toney’s current contract runs until July 2025.

Newcastle will kick themselves for selling West Ham & Leeds target

Interestingly, Newcastle actually had Toney on their books from 2015 to 2018 after signing him from Northampton.

However, he made just four first-team appearances for the Magpies before joining Peterborough in 2018, where his career took off.

Now, Newcastle face paying a huge sum if they want to bring their old frontman back to St James’ Park.

Eddie Howe wasn’t on Tyneside at the time of Toney’s sale, but he will surely be devastated that the Magpies let such an effective striker leave before he took over.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Brentford prepare to fend off interest in their talisman.
