Report: Club set to make late bid for ‘incredible’ Arsenal star, won’t give up on signing him

Atletico Madrid are about to make a new offer for Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira, the Daily Mail say.

Arsenal are prepared to offload Torreira, as they feel that his sale could help fund a move for Houssem Aouar at Lyon.

Aouar is Mikel Arteta’s top target, but affording him could be difficult without raising funds.

But the sale of Torreira now may have a chance of going through in the coming days, which could boost the club’s finances.

Arsenal have already batted away one offer from Atletico for Torreira, as it didn’t reach their valuation, but the Mail suggest that hasn’t put the Spanish side off.

Diego Simeone’s men are set to make a ‘new’ offer for Torreira in the near future, as they are determined to prise him away from the Emirates Stadium.

Torreira remains a fairly popular figure at Arsenal, where his combative performances have endeared himself to supporters, and have seen him labelled as ‘incredible’ by teammate Bernd Leno (Goal).

But he has fallen well down the pecking order under Arteta, and if they can offload him, and then bring Aouar in, the Gunners are likely to feel that they have completed some excellent business this summer.
