Arsenal won’t find out whether they can land Thomas Partey until the end of the season, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Partey is believed to be Arsenal’s top target this summer, with Mikel Arteta extremely keen on the midfielder.
Goal have reported that Arsenal could pay £44 million in an attempt to land Partey or even offer Alexandre Lacazette in a swap deal.
Atleti, however, are trying to convince the Ghanian to pen a new contract and put all the transfer rumours to bed.
Partey has refused to sign a new deal as yet, and it seems that Atleti will now make a final decision over his future when their campaign finishes.
La Liga is set to restart at the weekend, with Atleti battling to claim a Champions League spot.
Diego Simeone’s side are currently in sixth place, after what has been a disappointing campaign so far.
If they do fail to make it into Europe that could play into Arsenal’s hands.
The Gunners may not have European football on offer themselves, but Partey is already said by the Telegraph to be interested in a move to the Emirates Stadium, and it seems that a final decision over the potential move is now edging closer.
