Report: Club ready to sell Everton-linked star for just £7.7m, after initial £35m demand

Real Madrid are desperate to get rid of some of their highest earners. They are prepared to go above and beyond to achieve that this summer, which might interest a few clubs in the Premier League.

The Galacticos have been trying to move James Rodriguez on for quite some time. The Colombian, despite a decent start to life at the Bernabeu, has failed to live up to all the hype, and it is almost certain that he will be gone this summer.

Spanish outlet Sport claim that Real Madrid are willing to slash his asking price considerably just to get him off their books before the start of the new season.

It is reported that Rodriguez will be available for just £7.7 million this summer, which is a huge shock considering that Zinedine Zidane’s side wanted almost five times that just a few months ago.

Marca claimed at the end of April that Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti was the most interested in signing the Colombian who was valued by Real Madrid at about £35 million. The report also claimed that the Toffees were prepared to offer him a four-year deal which showed real ambition.

James Rodriguez for £7 million is a steal

Now that Rodriguez is reportedly available for a fifth of what was quoted three-and-a-half months ago, it is a no-brainer for the Toffees to make their move for him in the coming days.

The 29-year-old, in his two-year loan spell at Bayern Munich, managed 15 goals and 20 assists in all competitions. That is a more than decent return for someone who many think is past his prime.

Everton cannot rely on Gylfi Sigurdsson anymore. The Iceland international has been a fantastic servant for the Toffees over the years. However, he has not been anything like his previous self for well over a year now.

Rodriguez can thrive in that number 10 position and the Colombian can even fill in on either wing. Ancelotti knows the 29-year-old well having managed him before; something that Everton should use to get the deal over the line for a bargain price this summer.
