Transfer windows have been really exciting for Everton fans over the last two years. Big money moves for Richarlison, Andre Gomes, Lucas Digne, Alex Iwobi and others showed real ambition from the board, and the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti as the new manager took it a step further.
The results on the pitch have been underwhelming for the Toffees despite their success, at least on paper, in the transfer windows. Everton dropped out of the top half of the table after looking certain to finish in one of the European places at one point.
That is a big blow for the Blues considering how ambitious their owner’s plans are for the future. Everton could once again go big on transfers this summer and if reports are to believed, Napoli’s Allan is their number one target.
Gianluca Di Marzio reported six months ago that Ancelotti was keen on reuniting with his former player at Goodison Park. Multiple reports have since come up stating that the Brazilian is likely to make a switch to Everton, but the transfer fee remained the stumbling block.
The Express claimed recently that Napoli are looking for £36 million for Allan, but the Toffees are reluctant to pay anything in excess of £20 million for the midfielder.
That is understandable considering that the Napoli man is 29 already. However, Everton’s reluctance seems to have opened the door for another club to swoop in, and they are prepared to pay a lot more than the Toffees for the South American.

Everton are no longer the favourites for Allan’s signature
Marca claim that Spanish giants Atletico Madrid have joined the race for Allan and they are ready to pay the £36 million fee that Napoli are said to be demanding for the Brazilian.
That is £16 million more than what Everton are reportedly willing to pay which makes a deal very straight forward for Atletico Madrid if they push to sign him in the coming weeks.
That would be a big blow for Ancelotti who is desperate for a new central midfielder. Allan would have been perfect for Everton in the middle of their park but Atleti certainly seem the front runners for his signature at this moment.
