Borussia Dortmund are reportedly planning on offering Liverpool and Manchester City target Erling Haaland a new wage package to keep him at the club.
According to Bild journalist Christian Falk on Twitter, the Bundesliga giants are plotting on almost doubling the striker’s wage. Haaland currently earns €8m-a-year (£6.8m), but Dortmund could raise this to €15m (£12m).
Liverpool and City are just two sides eyeing a 2022 move for Haaland. Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also reportedly keen on the attacker, who could leave for as cheap as £65m according to the Sun.
Haaland will no doubt be the most sought-after player in both January and the summer transfer window. The Norwegian international has 11 goals in all competitions this campaign, and that’s just after playing eight games for Dortmund.
Indeed, Liverpool and City will both be keen to sign the 21-year-old attacker. Jurgen Klopp is seemingly eyeing an alternative up-front to Roberto Firmino. Whilst Pep Guardiola’s side need a striker, in general.
Neither side have been short of goals this season, though. Liverpool went six games in a row where they scored three or more in each fixture. Whilst City scored 16 goals over three matches at the Etihad Stadium earlier in the campaign.
Liverpool and City could remain in Haaland hunt

Competition for Haaland will no doubt be tough. And this update from Germany will likely make matters more difficult should the attacker agree to a pay rise from Dortmund. However, it is yet to be seen if the forward will even want to remain with the Bundesliga side.
With rumours all seemingly pointing towards Haaland leaving Dortmund, Liverpool and City could well remain in the race if the attacker rejects this financial proposal from the Bundesliga side.
