Napoli are convinced that Manchester City want to sign Kalidou Koulibaly, just months after he was strongly linked with a Liverpool move, according to Sky Sports.
City have already added Nathan Ake to improve their defence this summer, but Napoli do not think Pep Guardiola’s side will stop there.
The Italian outfit apparently believe that City will make moves to sign Koulibaly, who is valued at £72 million, in what could be a blow for Liverpool.
It was only two months ago that Corriere dello Sport (print edition, Sunday, page 11, June 21, 2020) said that Liverpool had made a £55 million bid for the powerful defender.
Koulibaly is a player who has seemingly been on Liverpool’s radar for a long time, but it now appears that City are his most likely buyers.
If City were to bring in Koulibaly it certainly could help them close the gap on Liverpool next term.

Jurgen Klopp’s side finished well clear of City over the past campaign, and the major difference between the two sides was the reliability of their backlines.
Liverpool unquestionably have the best defensive unit in the Premier League, but Pep Guardiola struggled to find a rock-solid central defensive pairing over the whole season after Vincent Kompany’s departure.
Koulibaly’s arrival would surely strengthen City at the back though, as he remains one of the best players in his position in world football.
And if Napoli are right and Koulibaly does turn up at City this summer then some Liverpool fans may have a few concerns that the gap could be closed.
