Inter have cooled their interest in the Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka and have moved on to his Chelsea rival N’Golo Kante, according to Calciomercato.
The Serie A giants are said to have been in contact with Arsenal in the summer transfer window, regarding Xhaka.
And it is claimed they have been given the OK to make a January attempt for the Switzerland international.
But the website states Xhaka has shown a reluctance to leave on loan, while his annual salary of €8 million (around £7.1m) is described as ‘strong’.
And both of those apparently make an exchange for Christian Eriksen, the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, ‘impractical’.
The Inter manager Antonio Conte is now reported to have asked for Kante, his former Chelsea signing, after moving on from Xhaka, who has started all but five of Arsenal’s 14 fixtures this season, across league and cup competitions.

The latter is rumoured to have cost Arsenal in the region of £30m from Boruissa Monchengladbach in 2016 – the same summer in which Kante moved from Leicester for a similar amount.
It is suggested that Eriksen could now become part of a part-exchange deal with Paris Saint-Germain for Leonardo Paredes.
