Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal could reportedly be disappointed in their quest to sign Ilkay Gundogan from Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
According to The Sun, Arsenal are interested in signing Ilkay Gundogan from Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
Gundogan is out of contract at Premier League champions City at the end of the season.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta worked with the German when he was a coach at City, and he is the one who is driving the Gunners’ interest in him.
The Sun have reported that although City were initially not reluctant to agree to the terms that Gundogan was looking for, they are now ready to make a compromise.
City believe that they will now convince Gundogan to stay and not leave for Arsenal because the deal “is closer to what he was looking for”.
Barcelona are also keen on Gundogan, according to the report.

Arsenal unlikely to be able to sign Ilkay Gundogan
In our view, Arsenal are unlikely to be able to sign Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan in the summer transfer window.
Yes, the Gunners are keen on the £165,000-a-week (SalarySport) midfielder, but we do not think that he could leave City for the North London club.
We do not think that the midfielder will leave City for another Premier League, especially with Barcelona interested.
It now looks very likely that Gundogan will agree a new deal with City and stay at the Etihad Stadium.
