Atletico Madrid could be forced to sell reported Celtic target Rodrigo Riquelme, according to Mundo Deportivo’s latest update.

Riquelme has been heavily linked with Celtic for a number of months now, and reports in Spain suggest that Neil Lennon’s side are still keen.

Atleti are now apparently looking to raise funds, it is claimed that if Celtic do make an offer, then the deal could go ahead.

Riquelme is one of the players that Diego Simeone has put up for sale, as his club looks to raise funds.

Riquelme, who has a £26 million release clause (Marca), would be an exciting addition to Celtic, even if he is yet to truly prove his ability at the top level.

The 20-year-old has only played twice for Atleti’s first-team, but his form in their ‘B’ side suggests he could be a real force if he was to move to Celtic.

The Spaniard would surely help to offer Celtic more creativity in advanced areas if he was to sign.

And at the age of 20, if he was to fulfil his potential, he could yet turn into a hugely appealing addition to the Bhoys’ squad.
