Burnley have lined up Craig Dawson as a replacement for James Tarkowski, as West Ham United push to the sign the central defender, Sky Sports report.

Burnley would prefer to keep Tarkowski this summer, but the London Evening Standard suggest that they would sell him to West Ham if a bid of £30 million came in.

David Moyes’s side are pushing hard to sign the two-time England international, and Burnley are seemingly now planning for life without him.

The Clarets feel that Watford’s Dawson could be a good addition to their squad if Tarkowski does leave.

Dawson has experienced two relegations from the Premier League in the last three years, but he remains highly regarded.

And although Tarkowski’s departure would be a disappointment at Burnley, there is a feeling that Dawson’s arrival would soften the blow.

If Tarkowski does make a move to West Ham then he should help to make their defence look considerably stronger.
