According to Estadio Deportivo, Real Betis are now worried about Newcastle taking Nabil Fekir away from them after the takeover.

What’s the story?

Well, Estadio Deportivo claim that Newcastle were interested in the Frenchman back when talk of a takeover first emerged.

After the Premier League blocked the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia taking over, all transfer talk was put on ice.

However, now the PIF, Amanda Staveley and Jamie Reuben has ousted Mike Ashley, things are resurrecting in the market.

Estadio Deportivo do not state that Newcastle remain interested in Fekir.

The Spanish news outlet only claim that Real Betis are highly concerned about the prospect of Newcastle stealing their £17.7m playmaker.

Famously, Fekir nearly joined Liverpool after undergoing a medical ahead of a £52m move, although the deal collapsed after he failed his examinations.

Should Newcastle sign Nabil Fekir?

In our view, Newcastle definitely need to sign one source of creativity.

The Magpies don’t really have anyone who can split a defence open right now – Miguel Almiron is arguably the most creative outlet.

Sport believe Newcastle could resurrect their interest in Philippe Coutinho following the takeover, and we feel he’s a better option than Fekir.

As good as the Real Betis maestro is, Coutinho has vast Premier League experience from his time at Liverpool and should therefore be able to settle in better.

The Brazilian racked up 152 Premier League appearances across six years on Merseyside.

If we were in charge at Newcastle, we’d definitely opt for the Barcelona outcast over the Real Betis No.8.
