One of Rangers’ Premiership rivals have rejected another club’s £1 million offer for an Ibrox transfer target, according to STV.
The network reports that Rangers manager Steven Gerrard and director of football Ross Wilson are ‘mulling over a move to sign’ Livingston’s Lyndon Dykes.
But Barnsley’s attempt to beat the Gers to it was not a success, it seems.
STV claims that Livi are ‘holding out for around £2m’ for Dykes, who scored 12 goals in 33 games last season.
Gerrard has already admitted that Rangers could be in the market for a new centre forward after Jermain Defoe suffered a hamstring injury.
Defoe’s absence leaves Alfredo Morelos as Rangers’ only available senior option, after Florian Kamberi’s loan spell ended.

It remains to be seen whether will pursue another deal for Kamberi, or seek alternative options such as Dykes.
Hibernian have already signed Kevin Nisbet in Kamberi’s position, and may be more willing to part with the Albanian.
Meanwhile, Rangers have strengthened their defensive options with the capture of Leon Balogun at the end of his Brighton and Hove Albion contract.
