Juventus have reportedly made a move to sign Manchester United forward Anthony Martial, who this week turned down an approach to join Tottenham.

According to Sky Italia, the UEFA Champions League giants will ‘make contact’ to lure Martial to Turin this window. The United winger is expected to leave Manchester this month after being outcasted from the squad by Ralf Rangnick.

Despite this, Fabrizio Romano has recently reported that Tottenham, as well as Newcastle, have both seen approaches for Martial turned down. The Frenchman has no interest in joining another English club.

Indeed, this news will no doubt come as a double blow for Tottenham. Juventus have been linked with a number of forwards this month, yet Martial could be the best option out there for the Bianconeri.

With English clubs out of the equation for Martial and Juventus now keen on opening talks, Spurs will have to look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements this January, with Antonio Conte eager to bring in new players this window.

Tottenham’s activity this window has so far been slow, with issues on the pitch seemingly taking more importance over off the field matters such as new signings and offloading players.

Tottenham can do better than Martial with Juventus now keen

A player Untied signed for a reported £58m according to BBC Sport, Martial has impressed in patches in the Premier League. However, there’s no denying that Spurs can find better value in the market than the French international.

After all, the winger is one of United’s highest-earners. And for Tottenham, a backup for Harry Kane is all that is needed for the Spurs frontline to feel a lot more safe and reliable as we head into the second half of the season.
