Report: Club looking at Arsenal player if they miss out on target to Gunners

Napoli will look at signing Shkodran Mustafi from Arsenal if they miss out on Gabriel to the Gunners, according to a report in AreaNapoli.

Gianlucadimarzio.com has reported that Gabriel is close to joining Arsenal from Lille, with the Premier League club having matched Napoli’s bid for him and having made the defender a very good offer.

AreaNapoli has relayed comments from Italian journalist Ciro Venerato on Radio Kiss Kiss stating that if Napoli miss out on the Brazilian central defender, then they will look at Arsenal central defender Mustafi as well as his Gunners’ teammate Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

Arsenal exit?

Mustafi has been on the books of Arsenal since 2016 and has established himself as an important player for the Gunners.

Although the Germany international central defender has made mistakes from time to time, the former Sampdoria and Valencia star is at the top of his game and in his prime at the age of 28.

Gabriel is 22 years of age and is still developing as a footballer, and Arsenal should hold onto Mustafi even if they bring in the Brazilian.
