Giovani Lo Celso is seemingly in talks about leaving Tottenham Hotspur.
The Argentina international has been heavily linked with a summer transfer to Napoli.
Lo Celso spent last season on loan at Villarreal, after struggling for regular football upon Antonio Conte’s appointment in November.
Earlier this summer, Estadio Deportivo reported that the Italian manager felt that the South American lacked the physical strength necessary to thrive in English football.
According to Calciomercato today, Lo Celso is officially in talks with the Italian outfit about leaving Spurs in what would be a permanent transfer.
The report adds that if Napoli do sign him, it’ll be as a replacement for West Ham United-linked Piotr Zielinski.
A departure absolutely makes sense for Lo Celso.
Conte clearly has virtually no intention of ever playing him in a competitive game again – or even friendlies, given how he was omitted from the club’s pre-season tour earlier in July.
That right there was a damning indication that he has no future at Tottenham and at 26, it’s important that he plays regular football.
The Rosario-born midfielder has shown glimpses of his talent but honestly, he has never consistently looked like a player good enough for the Premier League and hopefully for the Lilywhites, they can recoup some of the £27 million spent on signing him permanently over two years ago.
