Valencia have all but given up on signing Lucas Torreira from Arsenal this month, AS Sport report.
Torreira has struggled since moving out of Arsenal to Atletico Madrid on loan, with his game time limited.
It is now thought that the Gunners could look to relocate him this month, with Valencia initially keen on bringing him in.
However, they have found getting a deal done practically impossible and have now decided against moving for the Arsenal man once and for all.
That has opened the door for Monaco, who appear the club pushing the hardest to sign the £26 million player (BBC Sport) from Arsenal now.
The French side are said to have good relations with Atleti, and they are hoping that an agreement can be reached with both Arsenal and Diego Simeone’s side to take the midfielder.

Arsenal would likely be happy for Torreira to move to Monaco, as he would be set to gain more first-team exposure.
Torreira’s value is only set to have fallen, after spending so long on the bench for Atleti.
And Arsenal really need for the Uruguayan to be playing regularly, to put himself in the shop window for the summer.
