Liverpool target Ousmane Dembele’s future at Barcelona may not be so uncertain now after all, if reports in Mundo Deportivo are correct.
Dembele struggled in his first few years at Barca, as injury problems continuously thwarted his progress.
As a result Liverpool were keen to sign the French international in the summer transfer window, with France Football suggesting that Jurgen Klopp’s side actually made contact with Barca over the landing the wide-man.
However, after Ronald Koeman took charge, the Reds hopes of signing Dembele were dashed and they ultimately moved for Diogo Jota.
Dembele has since been given a new lease of life at the Nou Camp, and he has finally started to impress.
The winger, who was described as ‘frightening’ by Lionel Messi (Give Me Sport), has notched three goals in eight games and Mundo Deportivo say he is now close to earning a new contract.
That would be quite the turnaround for the 23-year-old, who appeared to be heading towards the exit door in the summer.
And if he was to put pen to paper that would surely end the links to Liverpool once and for all.
