Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin has turned down a move to Bayer Leverkusen over wage demands, according to Fussball Transfers.

It has been reported that the German club approached Bellerin, who is open to leaving Arsenal this summer.

The 25-year-old Spain international has rejected the Bundesliga outfit, as they cannot meet his salary demands, according to the report.

According to Spotrac, Bellerin earns £110,000 per week as salary.

Sensible stance?

Bellerin is on a good salary at Arsenal, and there is no point in him taking a pay-cut and moving to a club in Germany, especially one that is unlikely to challenge for the Bundesliga title anytime soon.

The 25-year-old has had injury problems in recent times, but he is now fully fit and available.

The Spain international could well be a key figure in Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s team this season.

Arsenal will be aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table next season, and the Spanish right-back’s experience and quality will come in handy.

The Gunners will also play in the Europa League next season after winning the FA Cup in 2019-20.
