Liverpool’s interest in Marco Asensio might be set to receive a boost.
The Real Madrid winger is being linked with a transfer to Liverpool right now.
Earlier this week, Sport in Spain claimed that the Spaniard – out of contract next summer – was waiting on the Reds’ owners to make him an offer.
AC Milan are also heavily linked to bringing the player to San Siro.
However, Calciomercato has reported now that the Serie A champions cannot afford the finances involved in signing Asensio, who could be purchased for £34 million.
The report claims that Milan have been trying to sign the player since last November but that the ‘requests are too high’ and ‘not suitable’.
This could, in theory, help Liverpool sign the 26-year-old attacker, whose release clause in the Spanish capital is around £605 million [AS].
The Anfield outfit and Milan are two of the most covered clubs when it comes to interest in the Real Madrid star.
So if the Rossoneri are out of the picture then that could potentially benefit Jurgen Klopp’s outfit.
It’s possible that Liverpool could sign another winger this summer, having lost two – Sadio Mane and Takumi Minamino – and signed none.
Drafting in another wide man definitely has its merits but whether that’s Asensio or not remains to be seen.
