Celtic spent a similar amount on their record signing last summer.

Celtic may have to equal their club-record transfer to sign rumoured target Edson Alvarez, according to The Sun.
Celtic are one of the teams being credited with an interest in the Club America centre-back, along with Ajax, PSV Eindhoven and Fiorentina.
And although the newspaper claims the Mexican side are certain to lose Alvarez this summer, it adds they have placed a £9 million asking price upon him.
Celtic spent a similar amount on the striker, Odsonne Edouard, last summer (Sky Sports), and have been rewarded with 19 goals in 44 games.
How willing – not to mention how able – the Bhoys would be to replicate that on a defensive player, however, remains to be seen.

And the Premiership champions look set to be priced out of a move, according to The Sun.
21-year-old Alvarez is a product of Club America’s academy system and has already won 22 caps for the Mexican national team, with whom he impressed at last summer’s World Cup.
