Could Paul Lambert be out of Wolverhampton Wanderers soon?
Wolverhampton Wanderers are ready to make an official move for Jose Couceiro, according to The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 61, May 21, 2017).
According to the report, Wolves are ready to make an official approach to appoint Couceiro as their manager.
Paul Lambert is in charge of the Wanderers at the moment, but the report claims that his days at Molineux are numbered.
Couceiro is currently in his third spell at Vitoria de Setubal, but Wolves are keen for talks with the Portuguese coach, according to The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 61, May 21, 2017).
“He is a favourite of super-agent Jorge Mendes, who has ties with Wolves’ Chinese owners Fosun International,” states the report.
Lambert is a good manager, and it would be harsh on the 47-year-old if he is let go by Wolves.
Although the Wanderers did not fare well in the 2016-17 Championship campaign, it was not down solely to the former Aston Villa manager.
What Wolves should do is back Lambert in the summer transfer window and try to build a competitive team for the 2017-18 season.
There are some good players in the current Wolves squad, but it is not strong enough to make a push for the playoffs.
