Jack Wilshere may be primed to leave Arsenal in January, with Crystal Palace and West Ham United both keen.

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is weighing up his future ahead of the January transfer window – and West Ham would ‘jump at the chance’ to sign him.

Wilshere, 25, was tipped as a future star of English football during his formative years at Arsenal, but his career has been blighted by injuries.

The midfielder spent last season on loan at Bournemouth in a bid to play first-team football, and whilst he played 27 times in the Premier League there last term, it hasn’t exactly helped his push for playing time with Arsenal.

Wilshere has so far failed to make a Premier League start, making just two substitute appearances to a total of 25 minutes, and whilst he is playing in the Europa League, Wilshere’s chances of playing for England at the World Cup aren’t being aided right now.

The Daily Mail now report that Wilshere is having to weigh up a January move away from the Emirates Stadium, in a bid to play football elsewhere and force his way into the England squad.

The report notes that two London rivals – Crystal Palace and West Ham United – would ‘jump at the chance’ to sign Wilshere, though a January deal may prove a little complicated.

Given that Wilshere’s contract expires at the end of the season, Arsenal are unlikely to loan him out for the final months of his deal, with a loan move surely only possible if Wilshere signs a new deal before heading out.

That leaves a permanent move, and new West Ham manager David Moyes should be strongly considering a push to land Wilshere in January, adding a quality midfield option to compete with Mark Noble, Pedro Obiang and Cheikhou Kouyate.

Moyes wants his players to work hard for the cause, and boyhood West Ham fan Wilshere will give blood, sweat and tears for the club he grew up supporting – just what the Hammers need as they attempt to get away from the relegation zone.

With Hammers teammates Joe Hart, Aaron Cresswell and Michail Antonio pushing for call-ups too, Wilshere will certainly be on view for Gareth Southgate if he does move to the London Stadium, and it could be a move that works well for all parties – regardless of whether it’s a loan move or a permanent one.
