Marseille are reportedly ready to offer cash plus a player for West Ham’s Dimitri Payet.

According to France Football, Marseille are prepared to offer cash plus Bouna Sarr or Romain Alessandrini in a bid to re-sign West Ham star Dimitri Payet.

The Hammers saw Payet hit nine goals in 12 Premier League outings last season, as the French international enjoying a remarkable first season in English football.

West Ham managed to keep hold of Payet even after he starred for France at Euro 2016, but their disappointing performances in the Premier League have led to interest in Payet’s signature, despite him only grabbing two goals and six assists this term.

France Football report that Marseille – who sold Payet to West Ham in 2015 – are interested in re-signing the playmaker, with new owner Frank McCourt keen to invest in top players.

It’s stated that Marseille are prepared to offer between €30m and €40m (£25m and £34m) for Payet, and then include one of two wingers currently at the Stade Velodrome.

The report claims that Marseille are willing to offer up Bouna Sarr or Romain Alessandrini in a bid to sweeten the deal for the Hammers, with Payet allegedly interested in a move back to his former club.

Sarr, 24, has hit just two goals and two assists in 43 games since joining Marseille from Metz in 2015, whilst 27-year-old Alessandrini has played just six times this season, but ten goals and eight assists for Marseille since his 2014 move from Rennes.

Neither of them are even close to Payet in terms of quality, and West Ham are unlikely to want either Sarr or Alessandrini, and will almost certainly rebuff offers for Payet this month, meaning Marseille may have to think of something a little better in their pursuit of resigning the playmaker.
