West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing William Carvalho from Sporting Lisbon in the summer transfer window.

West Ham United are confident that they will be able to sign William Carvalho from Sporting Lisbon this week, according to The Sun.

It has been reported by the British tabloid that the Hammers are confident that they will be able to finalise a deal with Sporting over the transfer of the 25-year-old defensive midfielder before their Premier League game against Newcastle United this coming Saturday.

According to the report, the Hammers are willing to increase their offer from £32 million to £34m and are confident that the Portuguese giants will accept it.

The Sun has claimed that Sporting want the Portugal international to play for them against Steaua Bucharest away from home in the second leg of the Champions League playoff round on Wednesday evening, with the first leg having ended goalless in Lisbon last week.

It has also been reported that West Ham are hopeful that Carvalho will be available for selection for the Premier League match against Newcastle away from home at St. James’ Park this coming Saturday.

An earlier report in The Mirror has claimed that West Ham were bracing themselves for their pursuit of Carvalho to go right down to the wire.
