Derby County do not plan to sell Jason Knight amid reported interest from West Ham United and Crystal Palace, according to The Athletic.

Earlier this month, The Irish Mirror reported interest from Premier League duo West Ham and Palace in Derby midfielder Knight.

Burnley are also claimed to be keen on securing the services of the 19-year-old Republic of Ireland international.

However, The Athletic has reported this morning that Derby do not plan to cash in on the teenager.

It has been claimed that Derby manager Wayne Rooney ‘wants to build the side around Knight’.

Derby County stay

Knight has established himself as an important player for Derby, and there is no surprise that West Ham, Palace and Burnley are reportedly interested in him.

The midfielder is only 19 years of age, and it would be hard for him to play regularly for the Hammers, the Eagles or the Clarets.

Staying at Derby, at least for the rest of the season, and working with former England international star Rooney would make sense for the youngster for his growth and development as a footballer.

According to WhoScored, Knight has made 23 starts and one substitute appearance in the Championship for the Rams so far this season, scoring two goals in the process.
