Marseille striker Valere Germain – linked with Celtic – allegedly has no plans to leave.

According to Le10Sport, Marseille striker Valere Germain has no intention of leaving the club this week – and therefore won’t be heading to Celtic in a swap deal for Moussa Dembele.

The French side have spent heavily this week in order to land Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman, with the Dutchman joining other big summer signing Duje Caleta-Car at the Stade Velodrome.

Now, the attention turns to finding Rudi Garcia another striker, and having missed out on Nice star Mario Balotelli, Marseille appear to be zeroing in on Celtic star Moussa Dembele.

The 22-year-old ace has hit 51 goals in 94 games during his two years with the Bhoys, and France Football reported on Tuesday that Marseille were willing to offer Valere Germain to Celtic in a part-exchange deal.

That may have been Marseille’s big plan to drive the price down, but Le10Sport now claim that Germain has no intention of making such a move, and will stand his ground and refuse to leave Marseille this week.

Bordeaux are also thought to be keen on Germain, but he doesn’t want to leave the club at all, and the report claims that if Marseille want to execute a part-exchange deal with Celtic, it will have to include another player as Germain simply won’t be going.

The 28-year-old striker was born in Marseille and unsurprisingly isn’t keen to give up playing for his hometown club, especially after hitting 18 goals for them last season.

That leaves Marseille to go back to the drawing board, and with time running out before Friday’s transfer deadline, Celtic may have been given a boost to their hopes of keeping Dembele.
