Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Grant Hanley from Blackburn Rovers in the summer transfer window.

Newcastle United will have to pay at least £6 million as transfer fee in order to sign Grant Hanley from Blackburn Rovers in the summer transfer window, according to The Northern Echo.

It has been reported by the British newspaper that Newcastle have had two bids for the 24-year-old defender rejected already.

The Magpies initially made an offer of £3.5m and then a bid of £4.5m, according to The Northern Echo.

It has now been reported that Newcastle will have to increase their offer up to at least £6m if they want to sign Hanley from Blackburn this summer.

Hanley has been on the books of Blackburn his entire professional career so far and has a contract with the Championship club until June 2018, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

The Scotland international scored two goals and created 12 chances in 44 Championship appearances for Rovers last season.

The defender had a pass accuracy of 69% and a shot accuracy of 29%, and won 206 headers, 13 dribbles and 63 tackles.

Newcastle will play in the Championship next season after getting relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.
