Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing the Barcelona winger.

According to a report from Spanish media outlet Sport, Tottenham are lining up a move for Barcelona ace Malcom if they fail in their pursuit of Real Betis ace Giovani lo Celso.
Now, on face value, this seems to make little sense.
Lo Celso is an attacking central midfielder, whilst Malcom is an out-and-out winger.
According to Football.London, Mauricio Pochettino is keen to sign an attacking wide player who can also operate through the middle, and Malcom does not fit into that category whatsoever.
There is a way in which Tottenham could make it work, however.
If Spurs do in fact miss out on the Betis star, there might just be more of a chance that they will keep hold of Christian Eriksen.
The Dane played more centrally and deeper last season than he usually does, and if Daniel Levy manages to tie him down to a new deal, the need for Lo Celso will be nowhere near as pressing.
So do Tottenham really need another winger?
They do have plenty of options in the wide attacking department, including the likes of Heung-Min Son, Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela.

Adding Malcom to their ranks would keep those aforementioned players on their toes, however.
In conclusion though, it appears that the money it would take to bring Malcom to north London would be better off spent elsewhere.
Spurs desperately need another centre-forward, and will potentially need to sign another centre-back if Toby Alderweireld ends up leaving this summer.
So in spite of the report from Spanish publication Sport, Tottenham fans should take little notice of the recurring links with Malcom as things stand.
