According to The Sun, Arsenal are being rivalled by Tottenham Hotspur for Genk winger Leandro Trossard – and his agent has commented on the situation.

Trossard, 23, has come up through the Genk ranks having joined in 2010, and has now become one of the top young stars of the Belgian game.

The wide man impressed last season with eight goals and four assists, but has really become a star this season with some red-hot form, scoring 16 goals in 19 games this term.

Trossard is unsurprisingly attracting major interest off the back of his exploits in Belgium, even though he has still yet to win a first cap for his country.

Now, The Sun claim that Arsenal want to land Trossard in January, but are facing competition from bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur, whilst Monaco – managed by ex-Gunner Thierry Henry – are also keen.

Trossard’s agent has even commented on the situation, telling Sporza that he hasn’t yet heard if Tottenham want the winger, but Arsenal have communicated their interest – but feel he should stay at Genk for a while yet.

“I contacted representatives from Arsenal and Tottenham. At Tottenham, nobody has wanted to confirm that Trossard is an option, but Arsenal have,” said Josy Comhair. “They told me that Leandro has a very interesting profile for them and that they have been following him since August, and they also added that it was a good choice to stay in Genk for another year,” he added.

With Son Heung-min back in form and Erik Lamela starring, it seems unlikely that winger will be on Tottenham’s immediate wish list in January, and they may hope that Trossard remains available down the line – rather than seeing him play for Arsenal.
