It is claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have made an initial offer of £15 million for the Aston Villa midfielder, who is also a Leicester City target.

Daniel Levy, Chairman of Tottenham Hotspur looks on during the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool at White Hart Lane on August 27, 2016 in London, England.

According to the Daily Mirror (liveblog entry 12:41), Tottenham Hotspur will have to double their offer for Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish – amid interest from Premier League sides including Leicester City.

It is claimed that Tottenham have made an initial bid of £15 million for Grealish, who is wanted to compete with Dele Alli in Spurs’ midfield.

But despite Aston Villa’s alleged desperation to raise funds after their failure to secure promotion last season, the Villans are said to be expecting a £30 million sale as the likes of Leicester look on.

Grealish is undoubtedly Villa’s most saleable asset, and it makes sense for the Midlands side to try and squeeze as much money as they can from would-be buyers, potentially reducing the need to cash-in on others.

Aston Villa have already seen captain John Terry depart on a free transfer, along with loan stars Lewis Grabban, Robert Snodgrass, Josh Onomah – the Tottenham midfielder – and Sam Johnstone – a rumoured Spurs target.

How much should Tottenham Hotspur pay for Grealish, amid alleged Leicester interest?
